Tiramisu is a classic Italian dessert that is made with ladyfingers, coffee, and a creamy filling. Here's a recipe to make tiramisu at home:
Ingredients:
- 6 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup whole milk
- 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
- 1 1/2 cups mascarpone cheese
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups strong brewed coffee or espresso
- 1/2 cup coffee liqueur
- 24-30 ladyfingers
- Cocoa powder, for dusting
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy.
- In a saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
- Slowly pour the hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly to combine.
- Transfer the mixture back into the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
- Remove the pan from the heat and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
- In a separate bowl, beat the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- In another bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
- In a shallow dish, combine the brewed coffee or espresso and coffee liqueur.
- Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, then arrange them in a single layer in a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers, then repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
- Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder.
Enjoy your homemade tiramisu!
